A comparison between Multi-media Teaching Environment and the Traditional Teaching Environment

Lecture
  • Given primarily through speaking. However, if a student is sitting far away from the lecturer, he or she might have a problem hearing the lecturer.
  • The Lecturer can speak through the network via LabCommander. No matter how far the student is sitting away from the teacher they will all be able to hear the lecture clearly throughout their speaker.
Demonstration
  • Writing on the white board.Student sitting in the back might have problem reading the white board.
  • Broadcast the teaching materials directly on students' screen. With the help of electronic pointer, teacher will be able to highlight the point of interest just like using white/blackboard but with more varieties of teaching material.
Classroom Discussion
  • Lecturer will ask questions or students carry a free discussion.
  • The teacher is able to use voice chat, remote message, electronic hand-raising to organize the progress in the class.
Note Taking
  • Students take notes of the important information during the class. However, they might missed out or forget to drop some vital information down.
  • Through LabCommander teacher can distribute notes to everyone in the class by FILE TRANSFER. Important operation can also be recorded and allow students to review the operation
Progress Monitoring

  • LabCommander allows teacher to monitor progress of each student's computer work at his or her own seat.
Private Instruction

Computer lessons
  • If there is no OHT equip in the classroom, students will need to get off their seats to watch the demonstration.
  • Through screen broadcast students will be able to view the demonstration in the seats of their own.
Student Practice

  • Teacher will be able to view students' practice through monitoring, and use remote control and voice broadcast to assist with the instruction.
